Agiorgitiko as a variety, produces wines of the highest level, which even at young age, are quite easy-drinking. ‘’Sweetness” of Agiorgitiko and Nemea wines, the rich and smooth manner the fruity (mostly dark colored cherry, and sour cherry) elements of the wines express themselves in aroma and flavor, but also the sweet spices, is characteristic and proverbial. There is no way, even when it’s the most robust wines, to perceive a production of Agiorgitiko Nemea like something else.
Even the wines tannins, either spicy or sweet, (depending on the manner of winemaking), are characteristically different when compared with those of wines from other regions. They are more civilized and friendly, they create a stylish tasteful environment, which even when accompanied by the characteristic (for a lot of wines – especially those from mountain vineyards) acidity, will almost never give you the feeling that you stand in front of a coarce wine. On the contrary, we could with great certainty say that the word which describes the taste reality even of today Nemea is mainly one : ‘’Velvet’’.
Succinctly, is a gifted variety, may produce particularly sophisticated , multicomponent , long aging and very high quality standards wines. Is at the same time a multidynamic variety, i.e. a variety that may lead to a vast range of wine types depending on soil and climatic conditions.
